Ye Forgets Lyrics Amid Return Performance
Kanye “Ye” West returned to the stage on Monday, 7 August, for the first time since making his controversial anti-semitic comments in October 2022, although the rapper seems to be a little bit out of practice.
Fellow rapper Travis Scott invited Ye onstage at Circus Maximus Stadium in Rome, Italy to perform Ye’s hits, “Praise God” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing”, together in front of a crowd of 60 000 people.
“It’s been a long journey before we could get here,” Scott said as he welcomed Ye onto the stage. “I can say there’s been only one human being on this m************ planet that has ever walked side by side with me through anything and every m************ thing.”
According to one international publication, however, Ye’s return performance was a bit rusty, as the 46-year-old “Heartless” rapper missed most of the lyrics but was saved from complete embarrassment by the backing track.
While some were thrilled to see Ye back on stage, others were less than impressed as they weren’t ready to move past his bizarre series of tweets that earned him a suspension from Twitter for almost eight months for violating their policy against inciting violence.
Ye’s Twitter account was reinstated last week – let’s see if he can play nice this time.
